What is a team?
Not this, we say. Not this.
You want to talk my dear?
Wait for the child to sleep, can we?
Oh! You’re more important?!
[She breathes, her heart dead weight]
A single male in the wild can never be trusted, for he will kill the cubs for his gain
How human are we?
Not much, I say. Not much.
There’s not much to say my dear
Actions speak louder than words, it seems.
Oh! I guess this isn’t important!
[She breathes, her heart more weight than gold]
A mother will never feel bad for sacrificing a man for the welfare and love of her child.
How human are we?
We are mothers! Regardless of species.
We are women.
We are what it means to be humane.
Something a man may never truly understand…

In Ravenscourt Park there was an old man
Who lived in an alabaster cave
Each morning he’d eat Bitterness on Toast
Then for work he would leave
With his glass jar tucked under his arm
Hobbling through the streets
Waiting for the moment tension would strike
To gather his bittersweet treat
Throughout the day he’d fill his jar
Revelling in its growing weight
Daydreaming the joy of getting home
To eat his sandwich filled with hate
To sit at the table with his favourite plate
And fill his belly full of misery
Then off to bed he’d take himself
Where he would dream of history
The dreams weren’t much different
From the days that he had
Except for the ring on his finger
And the smile that greeted him at the door
But the bitterness it did linger
While he ate his sandwich filled with hate
His wife ate strawberry jam
Too sweet was the taste of her lips
It angered the little old man
Night after night he’d dream of those lips
A never ending cycle of torment
Waking up to the brim with anxiety
Ready for a day of resentment -
How much time has passed
She doesn’t know
She’s been lifelessly in limbo
The clock keeps ticking
As for her heart
She thinks it stopped a while ago
Her hands are cold
Though the sun shines strong
The days go on without her
No desire to breathe
There’s something wrong
But fixing it is beyond her
She closes her eyes
But it doesn’t matter
No rest is found, no slumber
Her slow demise
Her delicate flame
Reduced to a mere ember -
I’m sick
The pan is on fire
Can someone turn off the heat?
I’m sick
The pan is on fire
How many times do I have to repeat?!
I’m sick
My house is on fire
Time for me to retreat
I’m sick
Back to my bed
Let the flames engulf my feet
Come soothe my soul while I take time to heal
Come dampen the fire around me
I’ve not the energy to be your muse
While my body cries sick so gently
It just wants holding while it weeps
Not the heat of the flames
It’s heavy with water leaked out from sky
Perhaps one pop will do wonders
Like a water balloon on a summers day
I can save my house by exploding
And off down the drain my water can run
Back to the river I was born in -
He closes his eyes, and there is darkness
The world stops and he can breathe once again,
He turns within and reaches out
To the hand that holds him
So gently yet firm guides his swim
He trusts her, so waves his limbs
Looking back she’s getting further away
Her smile, his security
The confidence he has to win
He let go, now he’s free
His mother watches him leave
Abandoned by design
She wipes a tear on to her sleeve
The smile still prevalent
Her heart in a race
Her offspring fully fledged
She can no longer see his face
Alone with the feathers
A simple memory for one
Her love undeniable
Nests indentation of an empty son
Long she forgot who she was
A mother seems all she knows
Her independence simply subjective
To the outside that come and goes
Passing like the daily sun
Clockwork they cast their shadow
Throwing in their pennies
Judging the falling sparrow -
Cuddle monkey where are you?
Did you move away?
Have you run away from me?
I can’t find you in the duvet
Oh what’s that?!
A little foot!
Why’s that by my face?
You’ve turned 180
And taken all the space
Stop your wriggling
That’s a kick
Sleeping with you hurts
Oh! Are you serious?!
The air smells like farts
Cuddle monkey just for once
Can we sleep normal?!
Bleugh! I guess not
You’re snoring like Old Colonel
Oh well, I guess I must
Be happy with whatever
I love you even with your stink
I’ll cherish you forever. -
Stillness of the night
Welcome! Come join me
I’m sitting enjoying the silence
I’ve had a long day
A few moments I lost it
Come sit. I value your patience
Let’s talk about woes
Ideas and theology
Have you seen Martha’s new kitten?
Take a deep breathe
Chat philosophy
I’ve seen Toby’s quite smitten
I’ve enjoyed tonight
Thank you again
For joining in this moment
See you soon
Let’s meet at the moon
Don’t forget to bring your helmet
