A man of five foot ten
Olive green head to toe
Akin to a backpacker
Of a snowy mountain or so
A face shifty and in flight
He darted through the dark night
Weaving through the streets
With a handbag studded cream
Rummaging in the alley
Walking really fast
God is watching him
Karma’ll glaze her rath
Sweep over this shadow
Who somehow lost his way
I prey he finds the light
And the girl is ok
-
-
Lying in the darkness
In pain and alone
Out jumps a message
Four words I’d forgotten
A wave takes over
A dread settles in
I thought this was over
I’ll not let you win
I’ve got over this darkness
I’m out the other side
I’m standing by a rainbow
Regained my pride
And yet maybe a little
I’m not quite there
How many more years
Will I suffer in here
My mind in a battle
My heart slightly torn
The stitches keep opening
Just smile and carry on
Fake it til you make it
Re-frame the hurt
You’re a powerful soul
And beauty you exert
Breathe and smile
Give yourself a hug
You’re doing great
Love’s the hardest drug -
Are we tired of the race yet?
I am! I am!
Are we running out of steam?
I am!
Do the parameters remain?
They do! They do!
Are the people going insane?
They are! They are!
They cannot see
The poison and disease all around
They think they know
While gleefully
Dig their own hole in the ground
Are you content with your life now?
Don’t know! Yes, no!
It depends on my point of view
Yes! No!
Would you change anything?
I would not, I would not
My journey is in full flow
[beat]
... Don’t cut it short yet, I’m not ready
I’m only a quarter way through
My souls is on board and we’re steady
Full speed ahead with the crew. -
Control your emotions
From the outset they will fail you
Destroy futures by vast
Imagine a landscape so rotten
Destined to live typecast
Without the option to alter
The world in which you were born
Pushed to secrete poison
When peace is all but forgone
Out of the shadows you whisper
Hoping someone will hear
But all have gone deaf in the mist
The answer is nowhere near -
Little stolen moments of peace
One would think they would be enjoyed
But alas there follows a little caterpillar
Named Master P Guilt O’Lloyd
He crawls behind me of a day
And pipes up when things go quiet
He reminds me of where I am
And how I want to be in the riot
Or beside my freshly laid child
Snoozing side by side again
Not grasping at my me time
He thinks my job is not yet done
He creeps on my shoulder when I’m staring
Out the window to block out the noise
Of that constant chitter chatter
And the sound of those blinkin toys
Yet I know he’s right and in I go
Back into the madness
Those three seconds were enough
I’ll look back with fondness
When she’s grown and flown the nest
When her room lies empty
I’ll pray for those moments back
When I was hiding in the pantry -
He lived on a world, atmosphere thick
Full of smoke and mirrors
He knew there was more
Connected through his core
By an electric blue light that shimmered
It shone when he laughed
Pulsated and sparked
He noticed not everyone had this
The shadows who swept pain
Spread greed and disdain
Wanted the light that was his
They tried to trick him to get it
They stole many a day
They tried to lure him to give it
They coerced many away
But this blue light was very strong
And his connection was through and through
The universe couldn’t be taken from him
He was part of the blue. -
Oh little feet how do you pitter patter
Along the wooden floor
Gathering all the dog hair, fluff
and god knows what more
No matter how much I hoover
There’s always more beneath
Your tiny little sausage toes
And squidgy little feet -
She wisps, she wisps
How smooth she glides
Across the rippled moon
We glance too shy
To hold our eyes
Our hearts begin to swoon
We walk, we walk
The distance grows
Until we see no more
He replays chats
He wished we had
Staring at the floor
I think, I think
What would be if
I had been more brave
Marriage and kids
Travel pics
In love to our grave
She rings, she rings
How pure she sounds
Up in that bell tower
We glance too shy
But hold our eyes
As he offers up a flower -
How lucky we are to be loved
By a mother who has such strength
She watches us destroy her body
Yet still bears fruit for our fists to clench
She brings the water to our mouths
And doesn’t flinch when we spit
We kill all her children
Yet she holds our fire delicately lit
How she encourages us to grow
Leading by example
Displaying her grace
As we continue to trample
Her guidance ignored
As our greedy hands grow
Mother will soon punish us
Do you want it to be so?
